It is widely known that the famous billionaire, 45th and 47th president-elect of the USA, Donald Trump, appeared in the second installment of the beloved movie Home Alone. However, this is not his only role in cinema. Since the 1980s, the businessman has appeared in many films. Fashion Illiteracy has compiled a list of the top 15 films and shows where you can spot the future president.
Home Alone 2
In the 1992 family comedy directed by Chris Columbus, when Kevin McCallister finds himself in the middle of New York City, he recalls a TV commercial and heads to the Plaza Hotel. Trump, as the owner of the five-star hotel, played himself in a brief cameo. Kevin runs into the future president in a hotel lobby and asks him for directions to the check-in desk. This is Trump’s most famous cinematic role.
The Little Rascals
In the 1994 children’s movie The Little Rascals, Trump plays an oil magnate and the father of a boy named Waldo, with whom the main character competes.
Ghosts Can’t Do It
In the 1989 romantic comedy, the main character, Kate, negotiates with Donald Trump about business. Despite an interesting plot, the film received criticism. It won a “Golden Raspberry” award for “Worst Picture,” and Trump received the ‘Worst Supporting Actor’ title.
The Associate
In the 1996 American remake of the French comedy, one of the characters has a conversation with Trump, even addressing him by his real name. Here, too, the businessman played himself.
Zoolander
In the 2001 comedy Zoolander, when the main character, Derek Zoolander, appears on the red carpet, journalists interview many celebrities, including Tom Ford, Paris Hilton, Claudia Schiffer, Natalie Portman, and of course, Donald Trump. Notably, his wife Melania also appears in the film.
Celebrity
Trump played a similar role in Woody Allen’s 1998 black-and-white film Celebrity. He gives an interview to a journalist in one of the restaurants.
Sex and the City
Another cameo role can be found in the eighth episode of the second season of Sex and the City. The girls are sitting in a cafe when they spot Donald Trump at a nearby table. The character’s monologue also mentions the businessman.
Two Weeks Notice
In the romantic comedy from 2002, featuring Hugh Grant, the main character has a conversation with Donald Trump at an evening event.
Suddenly Susan
In the NBC sitcom Suddenly Susan from the 1990s, Trump made two cameo appearances. In one episode, he plays cards, and in another, he is in a restaurant where a magazine cover featuring his photo and the headline “Our Next President?” is shown. Given that the episode aired in 1997, this could be seen as a prediction. However, Trump had already been considered a potential US president since the 1980s.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
In another NBC series starring Will Smith, Trump visits the main characters.
The Nanny
A similar cameo appears in The Nanny, the famous CBS sitcom. Here, Trump also plays himself as a guest on the show.
Days of Our Lives
Another series with Trump in a cameo role is Days of Our Lives, the daytime soap opera that has been airing since 1965. Trump appeared as a guest star in 2005.
Spin City
In season 2, episode 14 of Spin City on ABC, Trump also plays himself. The businessman visits the characters’ office, where they discuss a book. When offered a seat, he chooses not the guest chair but the main chair.
The Billionaire Battle at WrestleMania
You can watch a real showdown with Donald Trump’s triumph not only in his presidential campaign but also in an episode of WWE’s WrestleMania, in the “Battle of the Billionaires” match. Here, Trump personally attacks and beats his opponent, Vince McMahon, emotionally celebrates his fighter’s victory, and then shaves McMahon’s head right in the ring. Clips from this episode are still circulating online as memes.
Pizza Commercials
In addition to TV shows and films, Trump has appeared in pizza commercials. At least two Pizza Hut ads (from 1995 and 1999 or 2000) and two Domino’s Pizza ads feature him.
Other Movies, TV Shows, and Specials
In addition to the roles listed above, Trump has appeared in many other films and TV shows, including:
- Across the Sea of Time
- Eddie
- Studio 54
- Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
- The Jeffersons
- The Job
- The Drew Carey Show
- Night Man, and others.
Trump might have even appeared in the Leonid Gaidai comedy Weather Is Good on Deribasovskaya, It Rains Again on Brighton Beach. The casino scenes in the film were shot at his Taj Mahal property. The film’s credits include a thank-you note to Trump for helping with the filming logistics.
Interestingly, in 2015, in the movie Sharknado 3, Trump was supposed to play the president. However, he declined the role, as he had already begun his presidential campaign and would soon become the actual president of the United States.
It’s also worth noting that Donald Trump’s victory in 2024 was predicted in The Simpsons, which we covered in detail in a separate article.
